About us
The Institute of Slavic Studies of the University of Graz was founded in 1871 and it is one of the oldest Slavic departments in the German speaking world (Slovenian was tought here from 1811). Due to its neighbourhood to the South-eastern Europe, the main research field is related to Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian and Slovenian matters. The second main research interest is the Russian language and culture.
